The Wichita Chorus is pleased to announce its 2015 new or returning members! From left to right, meet Mary, Gerry, Marsha, Victoriana, Jennifer, Stephanie, Kasey, and Janet. We are absolutely excited to have these new members participating at our rehearsals, on our committees, and getting ready for their first show as a new or returning member! Thanks for joining us!
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Melba “Jo” McCoun (a former Wichita Chorus member), including our own Sweet Adelines sister, Patti Plenert. Jo passed on August 10, 2015.
A lifetime bass, Jo was a member of Sweet Adelines for 45 years. She was a member of the JaCoMo Chorus (Kansas City, Missouri), Top of the Rock Chorus (Little Rock, Arkansas), and the Wichita Chorus. She was also a founding member of the Hot Springs Village Chorus (Hot Springs, Arkansas). Jo was a certified director and also served on the Region 25 Board of Directors. She participated with the Top of the Rock Chorus at internationals in Detroit, Michigan, and also participated in numerous chorus quartets throughout the years.
Not surprisingly, her daughter followed in her shoes and is an active member of the Wichita Chorus and Chorus quartet, Chic. Perhaps Patti caught the Sweet Adelines “bug” while serving as a child prop along with her two siblings on a JaCoMo Chorus Riverboat show…during which time all three came down with the measles!
The Wichita Chorus will be singing at Jo’s service at the 47th Street Church of Christ at 10 am on Friday, August 14, to honor Jo and her dedication to Sweet Adelines.
It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of our Sweet Adelines sister, Kathy Dugas, on July 26, 2015. Kathy was a member of the Wichita Chorus for 43 years. As a member, Kathy served as the Wichita Chorus secretary and participated in numerous performances, including the recent Region 25 debut. Kathy’s family has also been avid supporters of the Wichita Chorus, and her daughter, Ann Blick, is always a welcome guest on stage. To the Dugas family, please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time; Kathy will be sorely missed.
